RFL staying silent on Bradford Bulls take-over
7:09pm Wednesday 15th August 2012 in News
Julian Rhodes, co-chairman of Bradford City
The Rugby Football League last night remained tight-lipped about emergency talks with the administrator of Bradford Bulls over potential takeover bids for the struggling side.
Chiefs from the governing body met joint administrator Brendan Guilfoyle, of The P&A Partnership, yesterday to discuss offers from four possible buyers who submitted unconditional offers for the rugby league side before last Friday’s deadline.
An RFL spokesman said he was unable to confirm the outcome of the meeting and Mr Guilfoyle was unavailable for comment last night.
But it is believed the deals on the table were from Bradford City Football Club, Bradford Park Avenue Super League (Europe) and Bradford restaurateur Omar Khan.
Julian Rhodes, co-chairman of Bradford City, confirmed it was still involved in the process, but said it was happy to “take a back seat” while the RFL and administrator talked to the other parties.
He said: “I think the RFL is going to go around and speak to other bidders, because there are a couple more people in it now. We will probably take a back seat and see how things go with these people. If it comes to anything, then great. We were only really in it if there was no one else. We just wanted the club to be saved.”
Former Sports Minister Gerry Sutcliffe, who is fronting Mr Khan’s bid, said he met with the RFL this week.
He said: “I think they are going around and speaking to all of the bidders to get an idea about their vision for the future of the club, documents, and then speaking to the administrator.”
Asked if he was aware of the timescale, he said: “I think that’s up in the air and they are getting the information they require. Everyone’s submitted the information that was required from them, as well as proof of funding. All that’s in place.”

Interesting BPA has made an offer, again last week I said if Blackburn could afford it I am sure he will make an offer as he has been trying to get BPA playing at Odsal for quite a few seasons now.

City should not want to take them over or we will get dragged down too.

If you believe that you'll believe anything.
At least BPA have kept their gobs shut (so far) and not fed us any crap about doing it for love.
As for the T&A, I find it hard to believe that they have been unable to track down a BPA official to get a statement.
Actually, no, it's not so hard to believe.

Ten years ago I would have resisted a ground share, if only because the pitch wouldn't stand it, but now think it might be the way forward. I assumed that the City bid would involve the Bulls moving to VP, if only as a wayto get the overheads down.
I would welcome the Bulls to VP but only as a seperate entity sharing a stadium and costs. I wouldn't want one club with two heads. Look what happened to Stockport County when Sale moved in and they were just one sports club.

It would appear that's exactly whats happening and for the record, It astounds me too. If I understand the situation correctly, two conditions that will not be considered are a) Sale/Transfer of the Odsal lease back to Newco and b) Continuation of current SL license for Newco. There maybe more but we need to remember that we the fans, are subject to the 'mushroom' syndrome.
Conditions of the Lease, that was transferred to the RFL by the Bulls (remains of 150 years) with the Landlords (BCMC) approval includes such clauses as '90% of Bulls / pro Rugby to be played at Odsal until 2019. (or £1.9m to be repaid to Landlord).
Figures I've heard from BG (Administrator) is that the costs of Odsal to the Bulls is approx £72k p.a. I do know as a fact but I'd guess that figure is less than 50% of VPs cost, but i'll be corrected on this if i'm mistaken. Maybe somewhere in all this lays the answers to some our our questions..... or not!

There are however other factors in place which sharing ground would enable to be slashed.
For example, in 2010 Business rates at Odsal were £99,750.
http://www.2010.voa.
gov.uk/rli/en/basic/
find/assessment-hist
ory/2010/11483230000
So in theory money could be saved there.
Then there is insurance, maintence, electricity, water, etc, etc and suddenly the saving start to mount up.

Regarding things like Westfield in the T&A all we get is the council and westfield patting each other on the back saying how great they are, they even hid the story about westfield selling the site for fear of embarrasment after printing stories of how it is closer than ever.
Look at the dire reporting the otherday on here regarding the wages, the headline was purely to shock and give off the wrong story from the start, they were ripped to bits about it that someone at the T&A changed it during the day.

The RFL remain positive about the future of Bradford Bulls following a productive meeting with the club’s administrator, Brendan Guilfoyle on Wednesday afternoon to discuss the four bids currently on the table for the Stobart Super League club.
RFL Chief Operating Officer, Ralph Rimmer said: “We had constructive meetings with all the consortia that have submitted proposals to the administrator and we’re optimistic about the future of Bradford Bulls.
“There are now four confirmed bids for the Bulls and each consortium has been asked to submit business plans to us by Tuesday August 21. Due to the sensitive nature of the current discussions we are unable to confirm who the bids are from at present.
“However, it does appear that this renewed interest has come as a direct consequence of the offer from Super League Europe Ltd, which remains on the table.
“We understand the frustration regarding the on-going process but it is vital that due diligence is carried out on all the bids and that ultimately the right owners are found for the good of the club and the sport as a whole.
The RFL remains in open dialogue with the administrator and the club and will continue to provide what practical support it can.
Brendan Guilfoyle, joint administrator at Bradford Bulls and a partner at The P&A Partnership, says: “We are pleased to be working collaboratively with the RFL to agree on a purchaser and sell the club. We now have all the ingredients that the RFL has requested and funds proven from three bidders plus the Super League Europe Ltd offer.
“The RFL will consider the bidders’ business plans which are to be received by the Tuesday deadline, and all concerned do understand the need to bring this to a swift conclusion.”

Average attendance, to date, not including magic weekend and with one home game to go, 11838
On another note, Halifax home attendance last weekend. 1989. Also Featherstone home attendance 2038. These two clubs would be a great asset to super league. On attendances alone. Lol.

Also as I have another on my back you will see that upto this weekend and upto Tuesdays game all the first team at Pompey had been released which is the point I'm making they waived their salaries whilst the administrator keepstheir fees, the fact they have signed a few players since tuesdays game doesn't have anything to do with the point I made though it is nice to see they might be coming out the other side of admin.

Probably caused by leaning over a laptop, eh?
Pleased about Pompei though, they haven't been the same since the Vesuvious incident (79AD before you get the Guiness book of useless or trivial stats out)

Thanks for providing the 11.8k figure as its one that proves this years crowds aren't the 14k many were suggesting it was and it also shows the 3k drop due to the £20 increase in season ticket price I also previously mentioned.

Would you kindly find all these people who were supposed to not be going because of the alleged increase. Ask them why. this was the case.
And would it interest you to know that the number of season tickets was almost comparable year on year irrespective of your statement.
Just a correction to your silly assertions.
Not gonna speak to you again.
