Around 30 current and former staff and residents returned to a sheltered housing project in Leavesden on Saturday to help celebrate a decade of serving the community.
The event marked 10 years since the Cheshire House, on Cheshire Drive, welcomed its first residents and was marked with cake and a buffet.
Since then a thriving community has grown with three of the original eight residents still living there.
Sue Gould, manager of the house, said: "The whole day went really well, there were some ex-staff and ex-tenants as well as our current tenants and a few people from a similar home in Stevenage.
"The highlight for me was when one of our tenants asked me to get everyone to be quiet because he wanted to thank all the staff for putting on such a good party.
"It was his idea and we were all quite gobsmacked."
