A Bradford MP has started a survey to test the health of Bradford’s retail industry.
David Ward’s High Street Health Check is aimed at taking a close look into how the city’s businesses are coping with the tough economic climate.
Mr Ward (Lib Dem) has embarked on the first stage of a tour of Bradford’s high streets with the aim to find out what issues are facing businesses.
Mr Ward started the Health Check in Eccleshill and the Barkerend area of Leeds Road where he met business people and gathered views on Government policy.
He is distributing detailed surveys covering issues such as employment and training, taxes and parking to traders allowing them to air their views.
Mr Ward said: “Bradford’s high streets have suffered more than most in the recession.
“But what was surprising was that the businesses seem to be remarkably resilient in these difficult times.”
