Police hunt men who attacked woman in daylight
8:00am Friday 3rd August 2012 in News By Steve Wright, Crime Reporter
Detectives today released CCTV images of two suspects they want to question after a violent and terrifying street robbery on a lone woman.
The female employee of a bookmaker’s shop was walking towards Oak Lane Post Office, Manningham , with a large amount of cash takings, when she was attacked from behind in broad daylight by at least two men.
The robbers tried to wrench the 22-year-old woman’s bag of cash from her shoulder and she was dragged to the ground. The bag straps got caught around her shoulder and she was repeatedly punched in the face.
The vicious robbers removed the bag, containing a significant amount of Bank Holiday takings, and fled in the direction of Mansfield Road.
The victim suffered bruising to her face and was badly shaken, but did not need hospital treatment.
Police have now released images of two suspects being sought in connection with the robbery, which happened at around 1.20pm on Wednesday, June 6, outside the Oak Lane fish and chip shop.
Det Con Gaynor Toulson, of Bradford South CID, said: “This was a particularly violent robbery on a lone woman in the middle of the afternoon. There is a strong possibility that someone, either on the street or in a passing vehicle, will have seen this incident occur.
“It was clearly a terrifying ordeal for the victim, who was simply going about her business. Thankfully, she was not seriously injured during the attack and did not require hospital treatment. We won’t tolerate such criminal behaviour.”
Anyone with information should contact police on the non-emergency number 101.
