Cashmere jumpers worth £14,000 stolen in Bradford

Cashmere jumpers worth thousands of pounds have been stolen from a haulage company in Bradford, it has emerged.

Police have revealed that a pallet-full of cashmere jumpers worth £14,000 was stolen from a company in the Marrtree Business Park, in Bowling Back Lane, Bradford.

Officers have urged people to be on the lookout for the jumpers which are of varying colours and sizes.

The jumpers were made by Johnstons of Elgin, Scotland, a company formed in 1797 which has a reputation for creating fine woollen and cashmere cloth, clothing and accessories.

Police have pursued a number of lines of inquiry, but are now turning to the public for help.

A West Yorkshire Police spokesman said: “We have made various lines of inquiry but we now require the assistance of members of the public to help in our investigation.

“We would ask that anyone who has come across any of these jumpers or anyone who has tried to sell them to them, in the local area in particular, to come forward and let us know.”

The jumpers were taken overnight on Thursday, June 21, but details have only just been released by police.

PC Andy Jackson, of the Bowling, Barkerend and Bradford Moor Neighbourhood Policing Team, urged the public to be vigilant.

He said: “We just want people to be aware that there’s probably a high number of these cashmere jumpers in circulation, so if people see a high number being sold at car boot sales or things like that, it’s quite possible they have come from this incident.”

Police would not reveal the name of the company on Marrtree Business Park from which the jumpers were stolen.
