A new Keighley-based bicycle recycling project is up and running and looking for support.
Barnardo’s Bikes would like young people to join the scheme, and also wants unwanted bikes from the public in the Keighley and Bradford areas.
The project is for unemployed people aged 16 to 18, who will repair old bikes and give the machines a new lease of life.
Participants will learn basic bike maintenance, business skills and gain qualifications in maths, English and information technology. All the repaired and recycled bikes will be sold, with the proceeds going back into the scheme.
People interested in joining, or anyone who can donate a bike, should contact Barnardo’s Bikes at Springfields Mills, Oakworth Road, Keighley BD21 1SL, call (01274) 545186 or 07824 561530, or e-mail joy.robson@barnardos.org.uk.
