More than 500 cannabis plants have been found in a disused railway tunnel near Clayton.

The discovery close to Baldwin Lane was made today by a Network Rail worker carrying out a routine inspection.

Police confirmed they got a call reporting the cannabis factory just before 12.30pm from a worker who said he had walked about half a mile into the tunnel when he found a tent and inside it hundreds of plants and equipment for bright lights, watering and air conditioning.

The plants have now been seized by police officers who searched the rest of the tunnel and surrounding area.

Anyone with information should call North Brdford Neighbourhood Policing Team on 101.
