The wife of a British citizen still languishing in a Greek jail has flown out to see him.
Fran Prenga’s wife, Louise, flew back out to Greece from her Otley home in a bid to free the man she says has been wrongly imprisoned.
Mr Prenga, 34, is in a jail in Amfissa after being detained by police authorities last month on suspicion of carrying out a series of armed robberies in Athens in 2004 and 2005. Mrs Prenga and friends say he is innocent and last week she had a meeting with Leeds North West MP Greg Mulholland who is offering support.
Friends and family are also concerned at claims Mr Prenga is in jail to serve a 12-month sentence for alleged firearms offences and are desperately trying to find out the situation through lawyers in Greece.
Last night, Hayley Wood, a friend of the family who has been helping to try to secure Mr Prenga’s release, said the situation is complicated.
“There’s a bit of confusion with lawyers over there and a lot of unknowns,” she said.
