Man kicked in door of girlfriend's mother's home

A 21-year-old plasterer blamed a “rush of blood to the head” for kicking in the panel of a door at the home of his girlfriend’s mother, Skipton magistrates heard.

Samuel Lee had called at the house in Marina Crescent, Skipton, on April 7 to pick up his possessions after the couple had split up, Skipton Magistrates Court heard on Friday.

The prosecution said he had banged on the door and some of his belongings had been thrown out of a window. He then kicked a door panel, entered the house, took his possessions and drove off with a friend.

Lee, of Mannville Grove, Keighley, pleaded guilty to criminal damage and was fined £200 and ordered to pay £200 compensation, £85 costs and a £15 victims’ surcharge.

The court heard that he and his girlfriend were now back together. He had cut back on his drinking and had taken up running, completing the Great North Run in aid of a meningitis charity, the court heard.
