Fire crews from several local stations attended the former Knoll care home in Idle after a fire overnight
Firefighters are at the scene of a major blaze at a derelict nursing home in Bradford.
Five pumps have been called to The Knoll in Leeds Road, Idle. Almost half of the building is said to be on fire.
The alarm was raised at about 7.30am today and police have cordoned off part of Leeds Road.
Traffic is reported to have backed up towards Idle village and Thackley and also on the Greengates side as far as the Co-op in Harrogate Road, Eccleshill.
People who live near the Knoll and ward councillors have been campaigning for its owners Leeds-based firm ADL to make the building more secure from vandals and thieves who have plagued it since it closed.
