The timing could have been better but City’s player of the year awards are back next month.

Friends of Bradford City have taken over the organisation of the event that was cancelled last season.

And despite another difficult year for the club, they are promising an entertaining show on Tuesday, April 24.

Once again, fans will be asked to vote for their Telegraph & Argus player of the year to succeed current winner David Syers.

There are plenty of choices but Kyel Reid is sure to be in the running after making an exciting impact on the left wing.

The red card shame in midweek has overshadowed their performances but centre halves Luke Oliver and Andrew Davies have produced consistent displays in the middle of City’s back four.

And Jon McLaughlin, another to find himself banned now, has been a regular in goal after biding his time for a long-term opportunity.

James Hanson has hit double figures to lead the club scoring charts, or supporters may want to vote for midfield generals Ricky Ravenhill and Michael Flynn. The choice is up to you.

Votes can be cast via a link on the club’s website at www.bradfordcityfc.co.uk.

The T&A will also be presenting a separate prize for the most consistent player, which is based on the individual marks out of ten with each match report.

The awards, which will be hosted by radio presenter Derm Tanner, take place in the McCall Suite at Valley Parade. Tickets are £35 or £250 for a table of eight and include a three-course meal. A City player will be allocated to each table.

Tickets are available online at www.friendsofbcfc.com or through the club box office.
