Throughout the two-year building programme for the City Park, Bradford Council has been keeping a record of the construction through a fixed-point web-camera.

Here you can see the film we have created made up of monthly stills from the webcam which shows the City Park and the Mirror Pool rising majestically from the building site that the old Channing Way area became.

You can see how the site was covered with snow during the harsh winter of early 2011, and the huge amount of work that was involved in closing off and re-routing roads around the City Park site.

On our website you can also find an archive of stories and pictures detailing the development of the City Park, from design idea to reality.

The park helps to link major visitor attractions including the National Media Museum, the Alhambra Theatre and St George’s Hall, the city’s transport hub (Bradford Interchange train, bus and coach station and Forster Square train station) as well as city-centre retail outlets.

From the building site has grown a high-quality public space in Bradford city centre measuring six acres (the equivalent of four football pitches).

It includes City Hall, Centenary Square, Norfolk Gardens, the 4,000sq m mirror pool with more than 100 fountains including the tallest in any UK city (30m, 100ft), sculptures and an interactive laser light public artwork.
