A Bradford accountant who is taking on a mammoth running challenge in memory of his father and brother, will complete the Epilepsy Action 10k run in his home town.

Badar Ayaz, 30, will be taking part in 25 registered 10k runs throughout the country during 2012, which will work out at about one event every fortnight.

Mr Ayaz, of Allerton, is raising funds for the British Heart Foundation and other charities, after his father Mohammed died in September from a heart attack. His brother Azhar also died at the age of two after suffering heart failure.

“They were my inspiration,” he said. “Bradford is where I was born, I know the area well and I have never done the Bradford 10k before, but it is important to me and my family and friends can come along.”

Mr Ayaz said his initial goal had been to raise £1,500 but just two months into his challenge he has already raised more than £1,300.

His fee for the Bradford race will go to Yeadon-based national charity Epilepsy Action, which will run the event on Sunday, March 25.
