Guiseley will be looking to reclaim second place in Blue Square Bet Division One North when they return to league action on Saturday.

The Lions are third in the table and host strugglers Hinckley United, who are third bottom.

Steve Kittrick’s men need to make the most of their opportunity to pick up points this month as the pack chasing leaders Hyde FC is tightly bunched.

While Guiseley were forced to sit out last weekend, missing a home fixture against mid-table Solihull Moors because the playing surface at Nethermoor was frozen, Halifax snatched second spot from them.

Their three-times postponed FA Trophy third-round tie at Cambridge United has been costly for the Lions because they have had to shelve two league games against promotion rivals.

They should have travelled to sixth-placed Nuneaton and visited the Shaymen in the last fortnight but were forced to keep both midweeks open for rearranged FA Trophy dates.

The frustration was that both times the cup tie was called off.

Guiseley have games in hand on the other five clubs in the top six of the BSN but they need to start getting points on the board, with all three of the clubs snapping at their heels, Stalybridge Celtic, Gainsborough Trinity and Nuneaton, in a position to leapfrog the Nethermoor outfit should they slip up at home on Saturday.

Kittrick has no new injury concerns as they are yet to play this month and he also has a new signing to throw into the mix.

Guiseley drafted in former Hull City and York City youth defender Dean Lisles from Ossett Town last weekend.
