Leeds have been ordered to think like winners again to prevent their season from fizzling away.

With only three victories from the last nine games, the managerless Whites find themselves six points adrift of the Championship play-off places.

Having slipped up at Coventry on Tuesday, Leeds face another struggler in Doncaster at Elland Road on Saturday.

And Scotland international Robert Snodgrass insists there can be no more excuses.

He said: “We know exactly what to expect in the Championship. It’s our second season here and we should know what to do.

“There’s enough talent here for us to go and win matches but it’s down to getting the mindset right. You need a winning mentality and I don’t think we’ve got it right now. That’s what it takes to be up there at the top.”

Caretaker boss Neil Redfearn admits successive defeats have done his own chances of landing the job no favours. But he still believes Leeds can clamber back into the top six – providing they can stop shipping goals.

He said: “I don’t think the season’s over. There are still a lot of points to play for.

“But one of the most worrying things about us is the number of goals we have conceded. We’re conceding too many and that isn’t just since I’ve been in charge.

“Until that’s addressed it’s going to be difficult for us to get to where we want to be.”

Speculation over a managerial appointment is mounting, particularly with Lee Clark now available following his sacking at Huddersfield. But he is not thought to be among the leading candidates.

Reserve-team coach Redfearn was given a four-game brief by chairman Ken Bates to keep the post for the rest of the season. The Yorkshire derby is the last of those.

Redfearn added: “It’s a difficult time because people are uncertain about what’s going to happen. The most important thing is that I run things as professionally as I can.”

Fabian Delph is a doubt after hobbling off in the second half at the Ricoh Arena. Michael Brown is likely to take over in midfield.
