Five are bailed in Bradford and Keighley car fraud inquiry as police investigate

Five men have been bailed pending further inquiries by fraud squad police investigating a car sales scam.

The men, aged between 26 and 44, were arrested last week on suspicion of conspiracy to commit fraud.

The arrests followed raids by West Yorkshire Police’s Economic Crime Unit and West Yorkshire Trading Standards.

Search warrants were executed at garages in Haycliffe Lane and Grosvenor Road, Bradford; Bradford Street, Keighley; and Dewsbury, and four cars were seized, including a Porsche and two Audis. Cash was also recovered.

The investigation centres on allegations that more than 50 expensive vehicles, written off by insurance companies were then badly repaired and had their Hire Purchase Information status altered before being sold to unsuspecting customers.
