A man was left shocked after racial abuse was shouted at him in a supermarket car park, police revealed today.

Officers are investigating a racially-aggravated incident which occurred as a 33-year-old Asian man was walking across the car park of Morrisons, in Otley Road, Guiseley.

Police said the man became aware of a blue Subaru Impreza car reversing and heard the driver shout something to him.

A police spokesman said: “The driver then got out of the car and shouted racial abuse at the victim.

“The victim was shocked and went into the store to report the incident.

“A large number of people in the car park are believed to have seen what happened and police are asking them to get in touch.”

Police have said the man was white, in his late 20s to early 30s, about 5ft 11in tall, slim, with short brown hair.

He had ear rings in both ears, a gold neck chain and two sovereign rings on his right hand.

He also had a tattoo on his right hand.

He was wearing a grey tracksuit top, with black on the shoulders, and blue stonewashed jeans.

He was with a white woman who was about 5ft 5in tall, slim to medium build, with shoulder-length brown hair that was tied up.

She was wearing large hooped ear rings.

The car involved was a blue Subaru Impreza with blacked-out rear windows and a number of stickers on the paintwork.

This morning, police released details of the incident, which took place at about 3.40pm on Sunday, December 11.
