A gritter lorry skidded on black ice and crashed into two properties.
The vehicle was gritting Crosshills Road, in Cononley, near Keighley, when it failed to take a corner and went into a dividing wall between two houses at about 8.30am on Saturday morning.
Ruth Millward was in the kitchen when the lorry hit her home in Royd Place. She said: “I heard a noise, but I wasn’t sure what it was-then the kitchen went dark and suddenly there was a big yellow wagon outside. I dashed outside to see what had happened. I was worried about the driver but he was OK apart from hurting his leg.
Chris Craven, area highways manager for North Yorkshire County Council, said the driver escaped with a minor leg injury, but the gritter was thought to be a write-off as its chassis was twisted.”
