An energy-from-waste plant will be built in Bradford as part of a 25-year £400 million waste contract for Bradford and Calderdale.
It follows the final step tonight in selecting a preferred bidder for the major deal which will see a consortium involving three companies dealing with waste from both districts from 2016.
Skanksa, Aecom and the Waste Recycling Group, will now be appointed by the two authorities as the preferred bidder with a contract due to be signed in March.
The consortium, known as ETS, will now start consultations ahead of submitting a planning application for a waste treatment plant on an eight-acre site at Bowling Back Lane in Bradford. The site is currently used as a household waste recycling centre, which will need to be relocated.
