You’ve got to hand it to him – sports journalist John Fuller has come up with a novel way of raising awareness about living with eczema.

The 34-year-old from Highfield Terrace, Shipley, wore wicket-keeping gloves for a whole day to show just how awkward life can be for sufferers of hand eczema. He said: “I don’t have hand eczema but I do have the condition elsewhere. I had it as a child then it disappeared and came back when I was 21 – which happens quite a lot.

“Hand eczema can be a nightmare to live with. Sometimes people have to wear gloves to stop their hands getting infected and that can really get in the way.”

The gloves Mr Fuller was wearing belonged to Yorkshire wicket-keeper Gerard Brophy.

Well done Sir, I have a good friend with eczema on her face and she has been using lotions and potions for years. When its bad she goes all red and blothcy and it is very painfull and then her skin becomes dry and peels away like sunburn. I feel for her as she has a good job that has a lot of stress, and she to speak in public most weeks. The doctors don't seem to be able to cure this problem at all, just make it a bit more bearable.

As a severe sufferer of eczema all my life. It is pleasing to see an article that highlights the issue. Eczema is almost a forgotten illness, which I can assure you can blight one's life, using creams 4 times a day, regular infections, which require antibiotics, steroids both tablet and cream, which thins your already sore skin and massive weight gain. May this article and Mr Fuller's attempt at highlighting this condition open peoples eyes
