Pudsey’s Alexandra Bell won a medal at the Under-23 UK Athletics Championships at Bedford.
She clinched a silver in the under-20 women’s 800 metres, finishing behind Rowena Cole (Coventry Godiva Harriers) but immediately ahead of Sarah Kelly (Dundee Hawkhill Harriers).
Bingley Harrier Sarah Benson came the closest to winning a medal for her club.
She was third in the women’s shot putt with a throw of 12.95m until the fifth round, and eventually came fourth.
Hannah Evenden (Edinburgh AC), who was second to Benson at the previous week’s Northern Championship in Manchester, threw 13.22m and Benson was unable to respond.
The winning throw was 15.08m by Windsor, Slough, Eton and Hounslow’s Rachel Wallander.
Benson’s clubmate Jessica Mayho was seventh in the women’s discus with 48.1m and fellow Harrier Adanna Okeahialam was 11th with 44.4m.
Hull’s Abby Carter won with 55.8m, while the Bingley duo were frustrated at not throwing further.
