Fellowship award to be given to man who has directed some leading films

Terry Gilliam Terry Gilliam

Monty Python legend Terry Gilliam will be presented with the Fellowship Award at this year’s Bradford International Film Festival.

Mr Gilliam has brought his unusual mindset to an array of films revealing worlds of wonder and fantasy.

Following his spell with the Monty Python team, he broke into directing with Jabberwocky and has since directed The Adventures of Baron Munchausen, Twelve Monkeys, Brazil, The Fisher King, Fear and Loathing in Las Vegas, Time Bandits and The Imaginarium of Doctor Parnassus.

He greeted the news of his Fellowship Award with typical off-the-wall humour. “To be honoured by such an important festival pre-posthumously will force my family to treat me with some respect while I’m still alive. I will always be grateful for that,” he joked.

They should give him a special one for messing with our minds, shaped like an Escher staircase (difficult to achieve in three dimensions. It might have to be a hologram) :-)

Brazil is amongst my favorite films. What's not clear from this story is Gilliam coming to Bradford or not? It'd be great to see him in the flesh.
