Police are still hunting child rapist Mohammed Nawaz after he absconded part-way through his trial.

Detectives have issued an all ports alert for Nawaz who they fear might flee the country.

Nawaz, 58, a businessman, of Flockton Road, East Bowling, Bradford, was convicted by a jury in his absence on Thursday of raping and sexually abusing a 13-year-old girl and indecently assaulting a girl aged 11. He failed to turn up at Bradford Crown Court on Wednesday morning.

The case continued without him and the judge issued a warrant for his arrest. Nawaz’s home was searched.

His passport was found to be missing and detectives fear he might attempt to escape to Pakistan.

He carried out a catalogue of abuse against a girl when she was aged between 12 and 14, including raping her many times in the flat above his fast-food restaurant.

He indecently assaulted a second girl when she was aged 11.

West Yorkshire Police will not release a photograph of Nawaz, but urged anyone with information about his whereabouts to contact the force on 0845 6060606.
