A Haworth priest has answered the prayers of a local cat charity by donating his clapped-out car.
The Reverend Ben Griffiths, from Our Lady of Lourdes Church, decided to give his old car to Haworth Cat Rescue when he got a new job as a chaplain with the NHS in Leeds.
Father Griffiths adopted his cat Sophie from the charity 13 years ago. He said: “Sophie has been a wonderful companion and a friend to many in the congregation.”
Father Griffiths has donated his car through the Giveacar scheme, which recycles or auctions donated cars and gives 80 per cent of whatever is made to charity.
Haworth Cat Rescue is running a £2 million appeal to build an educational and eco-friendly homing centre.
Campaign manager Corinne Moore said it had raised more than £1,000 through car donations.
