SILSDEN begin a brand new chapter in their history as they return to their spiritual home of Keighley Road on Saturday.

In order to progress onto the non-league ladder, they became temporary tenants at Cougar Park in Keighley while their own home ground was improved.

It took them longer than expected to bankroll the work and get the job done but they were able to terminate their renting days at the end of last season.

They have played two Vodkat League games this term but both have been away fixtures. To add even more atmosphere to an already heart-warming homecoming, their first competitive game back in the village will be an FA Cup tie.

The first visitors will be north-eastern outfit Crook Town, who are themselves steeped in tradition.

Cobbydalers boss Chris Reape will miss out on the celebrations as he is away on an FA coaching course, so assistant Mick Tillotson will be in charge of the team.

Three other local clubs also have ties in the extra-preliminary round, also against more northerly opponents, but only THACKLEY have to make the journey up the A1 as they head to Stokesley.

The Dennyboys will feel they have a score to settle after suffering a 5-1 away defeat to the Northern League outfit in the FA Vase.

It will also be an historic occasion for BRIGHOUSE TOWN as they play their first-ever FA Cup tie.

Town have home advantage for their first foray into the world’s oldest and most famous knockout competition, with Dunston UTS making the trip to the Duel Seal Stadium.

Completing the set of clubs in the area taking on the north-east are LIVERSEDGE, who have home advantage against Whitley Bay.

FARSLEY AFC are not involved in this round of the cup and, with many of their Kool Sport Northern Counties East League rivals in action, there was no option of rescheduling so they have a free weekend.

ECCLESHILL UNITED have a league game in the NCE League Division One at home to Grimsby Borough.

The Eagles were away on the opening day of the season last Saturday and suffered a 4-2 defeat to Pontefract Collieries.
