The jury in the trial of two men accused of murdering a Bradford University student will begin considering its verdicts on Monday.

The Recorder of Bradford, Judge James Stewart QC, told the panel yesterday they had now heard all the evidence in the case.

Judge Stewart said prosecution and defence barristers would deliver their closing speeches today.

Judge Stewart will then sum up the case to the jury, lasting into next week.

Reaben Kareem, 21, of Walsall, and Jwanru Osman, 20, of London, deny murdering Tony Ho at his student accommodation in Grantham Road, Great Horton, Bradford, on January 22.

Kareem and Osman blame each another for the death of Mr Ho, 19, who was stabbed 13 times and had his throat cut.

Both plead guilty to conspiracy to rob Mr Ho, his sister Sally Ho, 22, and her boyfriend, Gavin Stolarczyk, 30.

Kareem pleads guilty to wounding Miss Ho and Mr Stolarczyk with intent to cause them grievous bodily harm. Osman denies the charges.

Kareem told the jury at Bradford Crown Court he smashed a bottle over Miss Ho’s head and stabbed Mr Stolarczyk during the robbery. Both students were bound and gagged in the basement of the house.

Miss Ho discovered her brother’s body under a duvet on her bed after the robbers had fled to London.

The chemistry and forensic science student bled to death and his bank account was plundered using his laptop computer.

Yesterday, Osman told the jury he obeyed Kareem’s orders in the house because he feared he might stab him.

“I was working with him under his pressure, not by any agreement with him,” he said.

Osman said he did not know Mr Ho was dead until he had handed himself into the police in London the day after the robbery.

The trial continues.
