SIR – It could only happen in Bradford! The plan to put temporary cladding on the Odeon building to ‘prevent it overshadowing’ the new City Park is ludicrous and a further waste of Bradford taxpayers’ money.

Bradford Council and Yorkshire Forward could do something visionary and unique.

Why not utilise the classical style of the Alhambra and the Odeon to form a superb backdrop to the new park and revamp the former cinema into a use that would complement the scheme?

Bradford Council has said that the new park will attract more than half a million visitors a year, which roughly amounts to more than 1,000 visitors a day (their figures published in this paper).

There are no shops in the city to attract them, the Media Museum could not cope with this number of additional visitors, so where are they going to go, and what are they going to do after the five-minute walk round the mirror pool?

One can only assume that Yorkshire Forward, in association with Bradford Council, have a plan up their sleeves which is going to astonish us all. No?

Well, like the temporary park on the Westfield site, just cover it up – temporarily, of course!
