SIR – Re the litter problem in our streets (T&A, June 9). I am not surprised Bradford came seventh in the list – it’s a rubbish dump.

At the end of our road, we have two takeaway shops with litter bins spaced out at intervals (supplied at residents’ request), but hardly used.

I am fed up of picking up cans, plastic bottles, crisp packets, etc. It’s not just children – the adults are as bad. They should be setting an example.

I have a dog and walk round Richard Dunn’s grounds. It’s all right having £1,000 fines to the owners who don’t clear their dog’s mess, but what about the users who leave all their litter?

Every time I walk round, I take an extra carrier bag to pick up all the cans, plastic bottles, etc. I usually manage to fill it.

Despite asking the manager for litter bins last year, none have been forthcoming. This centre is used daily by a wide range of children, youths and adults.

I have lived in Bradford all my life and proud to be Yorkshire, but when I see how our city has deteriorated, it makes me sad.
