THIRTY pupils from St Mary's RC School in Menston pleased audiences last week with a production of Shakespeare's 'The Comedy of Errors'.

St Mary's drama teacher Alacoque Marvin said the students have been rehearsing for the production since September and the school hosted a three-night run of the production last Wednesday, Thursday and Fri-day.

Miss Marvin said: "There were some first-night nerves backstage but they all pulled it together. The audience didn't notice."

She also said that feedback about the performance from the audience was 'excellent'.

Miss Marvin also heaped generous amounts of praise on the 30 pupils in the cast, which included children from Year 7 to Year 13.

"They've been the most talented group of students I've worked with and I've done nine productions!" she said.

St Mary's also recently pro-duced three action-packed as-semblies, based on the much-loved story of 'Jack and the Beanstalk'.

The students wore fancy dress with characters including a Great Dame, a Fantasy Giant and a Pantomime Cow.

Set in Menston village, the audience heard a tale about the life of schoolboy Jack, a student at St Mary's School, and his mum.

The audience then saw what happens when the pair had to sell their beloved cow Mary (named after the school) and received magic beans in payment for her.

Rosie Elliot, Lay Chaplain at St Mary's, said: "Through this light-hearted approach, the students convey the determination of the School Council to make our community a better place."
