Otley Athletic Club's Chris Carver, Phil Robinson and new member Andy Hunt all doubled up in the last week by competing in both the Golden Acre Park Relays and the Burnsall Feast events.

Chris, having run the fastest Otley relay leg over the approximate 2.5 mile trail course last Wednesday evening (17.11), then showed how his training for September's Nottingham Marathon was benefiting him with a time of 66.33 (24th place) in the Burnsall Ten Mile Road Race on Saturday afternoon.

Four Otley AC relay teams each consisting of three runners finished in tenth, eleventh, 23rd and 27th positions overall at Golden Acre with other individual times recorded as Liam Dunne 17.12, Andy Hunt 17.16, Danny Lambert 17.52, Zack Whitehead 18.49, Hugh Pearson 18.55, Colin Best 19.37, Peter McGouran 19.39, Mark Blagg 19.47, Phil Robinson 20.15, Caroline Marler 20.43 and Steve Haywood 22.48.

Phil Robinson then recorded 22.57 (74th) at the Burnsall Fell Race, Bob Payne 25.12 (84th) and Andy Hunt 19.10 (26th).

With excellent runs also from Matt Cox finishing fourth in 15.54 and David Fox 61st in 22.09, the Otley trio of Matt, Andy and David won the second team prize.

In the Ten Mile Road Race, Ian Fisher was a clear winner in 52.56 and with supporting runs from Julian Mawson 57.16 (fourth) and another personal best for Jamil Parapia 58.08 (sixth) the road race's first team prize was celebrated by Otley. Tom Hannah recorded 72.30 (48th) and Antonio Cardinale 83.55 (85th).

Julian Mawson had also run the week before in the Yorkshire Heartbeat Corporate Challenge at the South Leeds Stadium and was beaten into second place (20.15) over the approximate four mile course by Ian Fisher. But not Otley's Ian Fisher,

Ian Fisher from Altrincham AC who won in 18.26, arguably the most preposterous co-incidence of names and speed.

On Tuesday night, members competed in the Club's Dream Mile at Beckett's Park track being the latest Runner-of-the-Year event with training tonight and next Tuesday as normal commencing from Otley RUFC at 7.15pm.

New members are welcome to participate on these nights with a number of distances and paces catered for.
