VINTAGE car enthusiasts will be out in force on Sunday for the annual Otley Vintage Transport Extravanganza.

Now in its fourth year, the event at Knotford Nook off Pool Road is expected to attract a record number of vintage cars and wagons from all over Yorkshire and Lancashire.

Oldest car in the show will be a 1928 Austin Seven Chummy from Leeds and the oldest wagon will be a 1923 Ford TT which is about to be completely restored.

There will also be two fairground organs and a steam engine and a display of motor cycles and tractors. Other attractions will include a working steam threshing machine, a peg drum and a crusher.

And as well as the vintage vehicles, there will be a car boot sale and market and entertainment provided by Otley Brass Band, Dave Rimmer and a display by the Bernese Mountain Dogs.

And to keep the children happy, there will be a children's play area featuring a clown displaying circus skills.

Proceeds from the event will go to the Otley based charity Hang on to a Dream which raises money to send seriously ill children on dream trips.

Organiser and charity chairman, Nigel Francis said: "I am confident that if the local people attend the event, it will be the best one ever. We use this rally to raise funds for the charity Hang on to a Dream, so it is very important for people to attend and enjoy themselves."

The event is free although car parking is £1. It will run from 10am to 4pm. Anyone who wants to book a trade stall or car boot should call (01943) 463467.
