A long-standing member of Glusburn parish council has quit. Councillors were visibly bewildered by Harry Proud's announcement at Wednesday's meeting that he had "had enough." His move followed a discussion with chairman Isobel Westhead on the parish council's refurbishment of Glusburn park.
Cllr Proud, the member responsible for parks and recreation, was concerned about unsupervised children on the play equipment. Father of four Mr Proud, 63, who is a mechanic, had been a member of the parish council for a decade.
