Albion Sports 4

Ace striker Taj Singh produced a devastating display of finishing to fire Albion Sports into the last eight of the FA Umbro Sunday Cup.

Singh, the Bradford Sunday Alliance League's all-time record marksman, helped himself to a hat-trick as his side overcame a difficult fourth round test at Bristol with considerable ease.

The victory boosts Albion's chances of going one better than last year when they were beaten 1-0 in the final by Hull side Prestige Brighams.

Jubilant manager Kulwinder Sandhu said: "That was a super display. They were a strong, well organised side but we were at our best.

"I think they were stunned by the way we played. I think the performance owed much to our preparations.

"The decision to go down on Saturday night meant the players had time to rest and it paid off."

The draw for the quarter-finals takes place at the Football Association's new Soho headquarters today and there will be a few teams wanting to avoid a clash with the Sunday Alliance champions.

With holders prestige Brighams already out, Albion will be hoping that this can be their year.

Their performance yesterday bore all the hallmarks of a side who believe that they have what it takes to lift Sunday soccer's top prize.

From the start they set the tempo of the game and took the lead with a clever piece of opportunism.

Striker Stefan Zoll had the awareness to take a free kick quickly while the Bradley defence was not paying attention.

His pass sent Singh clear and he cleverly lobbed the keeper as he advanced to meet him.

The second half saw Albion turn the screw as they broke the resolve of the home side.

Paul Forrest, pressed into action despite feeling weak from tonsillitis, and Jason Ryan exerted a firm grip on midfield and that proved decisive.

Amjad Iqbal popped up to score the second goal after 55 minutes with a neat finish before Singh finished Bradley off with two telling strikes.

After 64 minutes he collected a pass 20 yards out and curled a superb shot round the keeper into the top corner of the net.

He then wrapped up the scoring with another crisp shot after Forrest had set up the opportunity for him with 15 minutes remaining. It was the perfect end to a perfect display.
