SIR - "We got it wrong, admits bus boss", reported the T&A.

Well, it seems he's still getting it wrong when he comes up with the ludicrous service 642 which will be only every hour from 10am to 2pm, Monday to Friday.

What about the link between Ravenscliffe and Thorpe Edge in the evenings and weekends? All we ever asked for was the Green Line buses and the Red Line buses to run the old routes of the 608 and 609 buses and the 670 to go back to the route up to Morrisons.

This way everything would be back to normal and people could go from one estate to the other as we used to do.

Come on, Mr Hussain, it's time you had another rethink. The new buses are great but your suggestion of the new service 642 is absolutely ridiculous.

Mrs Halley, Redcar Road, Greengates.

l Khadim Hussain, Operations Director of First Bradford, said: "Following the revision of bus services in the Ravenscliffe and Thorpe Edge areas last year, First Bradford has undertaken a review of the network as part of our on-going monitoring operation and customer feedback. As part of this review, we have established a revised service, 642, beginning on Monday, January 15.

"The 642 service will be re-routed to operate from Bradford via Otley Road, Harrogate Road, Ravenscliffe Estate, Ruswarp Crescent, Orchard Grove, Thorpe Edge Estate, Rowantree Drive, Bradford Road, Albion Road and Leeds Road to Greengates Ashfield Road. Five services will operate each day in each direction, Monday to Friday.

"We will closely monitor the progress of the 642 service in line with the other services operating in the area, ie the 645/646 high-frequency Green Line serving Ravenscliffe, and the 670 Bradford to Leeds via Undercliffe, to determine whether further service adjustments are necessary."

SIR - I was very interested to read about the Christmas party, held in Keighley, for single dads and their children (T&A, December 29). The party was organised by Families Need Fathers.

We at Responsible Adults Against the Child Support Act (RAACSA) do support single fathers in their quest to be more involved in family life. However our remit is justice for all separated parents and, most importantly, FAIR treatment of ALL parents by an unaccountable, inept CSA.

We try to help those who are being chased (usually the responsible ones as the awkward ones escape every time!) for absurd amounts, just as we try to help those mums who receive absolutely nothing from their ex-partners.

Should any of your readers wish to contact us for help and advice, will they please call me on 01422 343079.

Roger Taylor, Glen Terrace, Halifax.

SIR - Re the non-collection of domestic refuse (T&A Letters, January 10).

The response from the cleansing department really does beggar belief! There were large parts of Bradford that did not have a collection and the excuses offered, including a breakdown, varied according to when you rang and who you spoke to.

Planning the collection of rubbish must include allowing for expected events such as the increased amount at Christmas and the fact that it snows in this country.

To know that these events happen and then offer them as excuses for failure is ridiculous. In addition, surely the planning allows for unexpected events like breakdowns.

Plan B appears to consist of simply not doing anything. That might have worked with the old bag system, when rubbish remained at the back of the house, but now the wheelie bins stop on the street for seven days obstructing pavements, lids blowing open and rubbish all over because no-one dare bring them in again in case they miss the collection that might or might not happen.

At the very least they should leaflet the households affected so that they know when the collection will happen.
