A SCHOOL'S high-tech new computer suite received its official blessing from a bishop.

The Bishop of Leeds, David Konstant, was greeted by pupils when he visited St Joseph's RC Primary School on Tuesday, to open the school's new computer suite.

Two pupils from each class attended the official opening and blessing of the suite, then went back to tell their classmates about the ceremony.

Headteacher, Christine Russell, said: "He was here for about an hour and a half for the official opening and blessing of the suite. The bishop then went around to speak to each class."

Mrs Russell said the school had been raising money towards the new building and IT its equipment since recommendations in an Ofsted inspection report two years ago. The school's PTA raised money for the suite, a loan was taken out to pay for some of the work, and Mrs Russell ran the London Marathon to raise more money for the project.

The new suite, which has cost around £28,000 to build and equip, contains 16 work stations for children, and is equipped with digital cameras and webcams.
