Painting by numbers was the order of the day as accounting staff gave a Keighley community centre a new lick of paint.

Twelve members of staff from the Shipley Inland Revenue Accounts Office repainted the outside of Hainworth Community Centre.

The event was organised by Bradford Cares - an initiative encouraging businesses to volunteer in the community - as part of national Environmental Action Days, where employers allow staff to volunteer for community projects during work time.

Community centre development worker from Keighley Volunteer Centre Surgi Cair, who co-ordinated the day, explained: "The staff from the Inland Revenue did such a brilliant job, the centre looks fantastic.

"We also really want to thank B&Q for donating materials. We couldn't have done it without them.

"I'd like to encourage people to come in and use the facilities at the centre. We are open to suggestions as to what people would like to see there and they can pop in for a chat about it. We want the community's input on how to take it forward.

"We've got some meetings coming up soon where some exciting new ideas will be discussed.

"If anybody would like to volunteer some of their time to help at the centre it would be most welcome."
