The Oxenhope village fete was a giant-sized success.

Last weekend's event organised by the Oxenhope Millennium Green Village Trust had displays ranging from belly dancing to flaconry.

POP team officers from Keighley police were also on hand to explain crime reduction strategy in the Keighley district.

The White Rose Archers of Hebden Bridge, including Oxenhope couple Keith and Anne Shooter, taught the crowds archery skills.

Two quarter scale working model aircraft were on show. The Focke Wulf 190, a World War Two German fighter and the DeHavilland Chipmunk trainer are equipped with chainsaw engines and can reach speeds up to 300mph.

The planes form part of Steve Thomas' 20 strong collection of aircraft, some of which have been used in a number of motion pictures including Top Gun.

Councillor Derek Allan, Chairman of Oxenhope Parish Council, described the event as a success but spoke of his disappointment that equipment was tampered with after the fete was over.

He said: "The fete itself was absolutely brilliant. After we had finished and everybody had gone some people came and took out all the side poles of the marquee."
