Three German students are spending a month in Keighley on an exchange scheme.

The 19-year-olds are here to gain work experience, improve their language skills and develop an insight into the world of commerce. One of the students, Sonja Ruther, has joined the editorial team at the Keighley News.

Other companies supporting the initiative include Kone Escalators, KADTAL and Keighley Library.

The exchange is organised through Keighley College and was originally set up by former principal Doug Hardaker and German translator Marlene Scott.

The placements and accommodation are now overseen by long serving college employee Ian Garner.

During their stay, Sonja and fellow students Esther Kinold and Diana Niemeier are also visiting local tourist attractions and enjoying trips to the Yorkshire Dales and the Lake District.
