Lund Park will be bouncing with big band beats when 46-piece combo Hot Aire swing into town next month to raise winter temperatures with an evening of toe tapping tunes.

The concert, which has been arranged by the Lund Park Community Group, is set to take place on Saturday, December 7.

And the park, which was recently labelled a no-go area, will be transformed into a blaze of Christmas lights, music and stalls selling hot chestnuts, jacket potatoes and hot and cold drinks.

The LPCG is hoping to involve the whole of the local community in the event and is approaching other organisations in the area, including the Bangladeshi Community Association and the school, to encourage participation.

LPCG member Paul Anderson (pictured) said: "We hope that this will be a real community event.

"The idea was to get people from the community into the park and enjoy some music in there.

"As well as celebrating the beginning of the Christmas period, the event coincides with Eid, and we hope that it will provide the opportunity for all sections of the community to celebrate together."

Fellow member Chris Huggins added: "The idea is that we have this concert for everybody who lives around the area.

"It is just after Eid and just before Christmas, so we hope that it will be something everybody in the community can get involved in.

The community group has already received a boost from Keighley Town Council and Bradford's Community Chest, who have each donated £350 towards the event, which is due to begin at around 6.30pm.

Keighley and District Explorer Scout Section is also giving its support and Keighley's park rangers are also hoping to attend and keep a watchful eye on the evening's festivities.
