Revellers can look forward to a magical line-up at one of the largest free music events in Yorkshire.

Colourful rock star Roy Wood, former frontman of 1970s band Wizzard, is among the top names announced today for Music at Myrtle and The Pulse Party in the Park in Bingley's Myrtle Park.

Organised by Bradford Council and The Pulse radio station, the 14th annual event will also include 60s Scottish rock band Marmalade and T-Rex a Celebration of Marc and Mickey.

The new T-Rex commemorative group was formed by original band members Paul Fenton and Mickey Finn, who died last year, and features guitarist Alan Silson, a former member of Bradford band Smokie.

Roy Wood, whose CV also includes The Move and ELO, will be headlining with his latest combo, Roy Wood's Army, which includes a seven-piece brass section.

The musical extravaganza on Saturday, September 4, will climax with a spectacular traditional fireworks display.

The Council's arts, heritage and leisure director, Jane Glaister, said: "The partnership between Bradford Council and Pulse Radio which produces the Music at Myrtle/Party in the Park weekend has grown from strength to strength and we all look forward to enjoying another spectacular line-up of music stars in 2004."

Acts for the Party in the Park, on Sunday, September 5, have yet to be confirmed but organisers said the line-up was guaranteed to include an array of today's pop stars and chart acts.

Last year featured Bradford's own Gareth Gates, Libery X, Busted, Louise and Mark Owen.

The Pulse programme controller, Simon Walkington, said they were tying up the final arrangements with record companies.

"I think that when we reveal some of the names that will be performing this year tickets will go like gold dust - so we'd urge people to get theirs now to avoid disappointment," he said.

Tickets are on sale at £8 and can be booked through the box office at St George's Hall on (01274) 432000 or on the ticket hotline on (01274) 436000.

Parking will be free at Beckfoot School, in Wagon Lane, and after 6pm on Saturday and all day Sunday in the town's Council car parks.

Parking for disabled badge holders is available at Myrtle Park Primary school, in Beech Street, by reservation only. For details telephone (01274) 434828.
