Joint Second Division leaders Glusburn and Bingley Congs both won at the weekend and are separated only by run rate.

Congs were in devastating form at home to Denholme. Tim Burnley (64) and Simon Bailey put on 112 runs in only 77 minutes for the second wicket.

After losing Burnley, Bailey went majestically to 108 not out, which included 17 fours and a six, as his side made 218 for five.

The reply lasted just 16.3 overs, with the visitors being hustled out for a paltry 35.

Only Richard Taylor, with ten, reached double figures, as Chris Hemsley claimed six for 12 and Tusif Arshad four for 23.

Glusburn entertained neighbours Cononley and had to watch one of their old boys. Stephen Filkin hit 81 not out, which, along with 61 not out by Ian Thompson, helped them to 203 for four.

Unfazed by this total, the home side roared back and scorched home by five wickets. Phil Shackleton made 63 and Russell Newton 57.

There was a surprise at the top of the First Division where Embsay saw their one-point lead unexpectedly stretched to three following the defeat of Oakworth by Culling-worth and their victory over Sutton.

At Shires Lane, Sutton won the toss and elected to bat, but slumped to 50 for six. Then Alan Johnson (31) and Justin Holdsworth (36 not out) helped them reach 125.

Stephen Speak, bowling unchanged, finished with eight for 45 from 21.3 overs.

The reply had a blistering start, with 55 coming off nine overs. Then wickets fell before Dave Robinson, with 30 not out, saw the leaders home for the loss of six wickets. Opener Simon Bailey top-scored with 47.

Second-placed Oakworth must have regretted their choice to bat first as they crashed to 55 for eight.

Graham Rankin (51) and Andy Dawson (38 not out) then put on 88 for the ninth wicket, which enabled them to reach 150.

Steve Welch was the lynchpin of Cullingworth's reply. He carried his bat for 72 and hit the winning shot off the last ball of the innings to carry his side to a two-wicket victory. Michael Scarborough finished with five for 45.

Oakworth drop to third spot and will look to close the gap on the leaders when the two meet at Shires Lane next week.

Thornton had a fine 43-run win over visitors Haworth West End. The homesters made 172 for nine, led by Kev Pollard (34) as Jason Bilbrough claimed four for 51.

The Bronte side's reply halted at 129 with Mark Paxton taking four for 41.
