Art lovers and fans of the beautiful game will be able to get their hands on two unique prizes once bidding gets underway at an auction which aims to help save Bradford City.

Lots on offer will include an exclusive signed proof from television star Alan Hydes and a painting capturing one of the club's most famous victories at Valley Parade.

The auction is the latest fundraiser in the Telegraph & Argus Save Our City Appeal which has raised more than £200,000 to help keep the Bantams in business. Yesterday the T&A reported that artist David Hockney had donated a substantial sum to support City. And now two football-loving artists from Bradford have donated their work for the T&A auction which takes place at the club's banqueting suite at Valley Parade on Friday, July 2, at 7.30pm. There is a nominal entrance fee of £3 which will go towards the Save Our City Appeal.

Lifelong Bradford City fan Arnold Thompson, 81, is parting company with a painting which captures one of his favourite moments at Valley Parade.

The painting depicts City hero Tommy Wright celebrating a goal in the 3-0 victory against Queens Park Rangers which saved the club from relegation into the old Division Two in 1997.

Mr Thompson, of Pudsey said: "I did the painting from a photo in the Telegraph & Argus. I was at the game and it was my favourite moment. You can see Tommy Wright running towards Chris Kamara and Paul Jewell on the bench. It is a treasure to me but it will be more of a treasure if it can raise money for City."

Last year Mr Thompson's painting went on display at the Bradford Industrial Museum as part of an exhibition celebrating the club's centenary.

He is also donating a framed print and 10 loose prints of his painting of the Alhambra Threatre at night, which helped raise money for the club when they were last in administration.

Bradford artist Alan Hydes, presenter of television show Painting the Stars, has donated a signed proof of a painting of Burnsall in the Yorkshire Dales. It is signed "In Aid of the Save Our City Appeal" by the Apperley Bridge artist.

The original painting now hangs at the home of Aston Villa manager David O'Leary who saw it at Alan's home.
