At last, it seems, Bradford City fans can breathe a sigh of relief. The Football League has finally given the club the clearance it needs to kick off the 2004-05 season.

The news triggers £250,000 funding from former Chief Executive Julian Rhodes, matching the sum raised by fans and Telegraph & Argus readers, and allows the club to begin moves to come out of administration.

There is no doubt that without the Herculean efforts of fans, the club would have been forced to close its doors weeks ago.

The clearance from the Football League means that preparations for the new season can continue in earnest at all levels. Those preparations are not just about the players and the club's backroom staff - they are also about those who have so faithfully backed the club in its hour of need and about everyone who counts themselves as a Bradford City fan and believes this city must retain a professional football club.

The support and determination shown in the last few months cannot be allowed to slip away.

The club may well have been saved from the ruin that looked so close when the T&A launched its Save Our City Appeal in May - but it still needs your support.

Come August 7, that support must be shown by attendance at matches.

Bradford City and its fans have won a battle of mammoth proportions. Now it's time for everyone involved to savour that victory by turning out at Valley Parade, week in, week out, and celebrating the passion that this club has so rightly inspired in recent weeks.
