THERE were runs galore last weekend as 12 teams scored over 200 and two batsmen - both making their debuts - scored centuries.

Oakworth kept up their Division One challenge despite their front line bowlers going missing en-bloc. Their batsmen just managed to pull off a fine two-wicket win at Foulridge.

They tried seven bowlers as the Noyna side amassed 203-8 with Phil Swarbrick and James Lickess both scoring 35. A steady opening partnership of 69 by Wayne Fradley, 36, and Drew Duffy, 27, laid the foundation on which Chris Mooney, 25, and top scorer Jon Crossley, 40, built. However it was a knock of 32no from Chris White that got them over the line.

White hit a six off the first ball of the last over to secure victory. John Lambert stuck gamely to his bowling task and finished with 4-48 off 13 overs.

League leaders, Embsay, were reduced Long Lee to 25-6. Paul Swindlehurst and Neil Kennedy staged a mini-revival with Swindlehurst scoring 21 and Kennedy 33 as they nudged the score to 87. Steve Speak finished with 4-22 off 15 overs, Dan Stephens 4-49 and John Metcalfe 2-12.

The Keighley side made their visitors work for the points claiming five wickets before they reached their target. Bob Bateman and John Metcalfe both made 19no as Matt Taylor took 4-35.

Second placed Barrowford welcomed Ratnesh Misra to their ranks and he had an immediate impact as his side beat Cowling by 74 runs. The ex Haxey (Lincolnshire League) player made 100 as the Red Rose side piled up 234-7. He followed this with 4-12 as the home side replied with 160. David Sutton top scored with 31.

There was another high scoring game at Thornton were Sutton were the visitors. The Booth Bridge Laners posted 231-6 with David Harrison scoring 87 and Robert Foster 52. The South Craveners' reply was also impressive but fell 26 runs short for the loss of seven wickets, with Brian Laycock finishing with 4-27.

Haworth clattered 269-9 at home to Bradley. Anthony Godden led the way with 76 assisted by Jamie Rowell with 67 as John Duffey claimed 5-91. In reply Craig Tempest scored a defiant 93 as the visitors fell well short on 165.

Haworth WE's Keighley Cup semi-final dress rehearsal with Cullingworth went horribly wrong. They saw Cullingworth rattle up 214-6 with Chris Welch making a superb 95no and Adie Powys 53. Andy Benfield 46 and Andy Parker 40 were the only two batters to offer any resistance in the reply, which staggered to 115.

The march of Bingley Congs to the Division Two title continues apace as they saw off the challenge of Wilsden by 36 runs at Beckfoot. A blistering 94 in the first 16 overs by Tim Burnley, 55, and Andrew Copping, 44, was pushed to 141-2, before the wheels started falling off. They lost their last eight wickets for 53 runs taking the total to 194. The reply never got out of first gear until the score was 110-8. Then Jez Robertshaw, 17, and Ben Peirson, 30, put on a breezy 48 for the ninth wicket, the innings closing on 158. Tusif Arshad was the most successful bowler with 4-39.

Glusburn keep on Congs heels, just two points behind. They travelled to Pendle Forest and saw the Fence side make a solid 172-6, veteran Pete Thackray led the way with 47. Omar Kahtab 74 and Kevin Hird 33no set up the South Craveners five-wicket win. Simon Halstead took 4-50 in 17 overs.

Chatburn move into third spot after home defeats for Denholme and Skipton CI. The Ribblesdale side were at Ingrow St John's and batting first made 166. The Saints replied with 126.

Denholme entertained Haworth Road and knocked them over for a modest 138 with Ian Spencer taking 6-49 as Will Burgess made 61. The homesters were shot out for 92 in reply.

Skipton CI were at home to Cononley and had things under control. Only a knock of 32no in the closing overs by Steve Filkin disturbed the calm as the visitors closed on 144-7. Sean Williamson finishing with 5-50. Filkin then turned in the day's best bowling, 8-47 to restrict the 10-men homesters to 114 in reply with Jon Sharpe making 32.

Next to bottom Ingrow were in great form at Airedale as they blasted a mammoth 294-8. Aide Parker, 92, and Wayne Exley, 79, put on a superb171 for the first wicket and A Mahmood joined in with 61no. Alan Hayes spun his way to 5-91 off 16 overs. The home side replied with a creditable 223-8, C Herbert finishing with 3-30.

Sandy Lane maintain their one point advantage at the top of Division Three following their three-wicket win at Carleton. The Ramper Park side welcomed back Martyn Windle to the fold from Skipton, and he obliged with 103 as they totalled 174-8. However he finished on the losing side as the leaders stormed to victory led by Wasim Akram who top scored with 45.

Second placed Crossflatts welcomed Ingrow St John's and dismissed them 113 in 31.3 overs. Mick Addy finished with 5-14, Q Ayoub 3-54 and I Siddique 2-15 as only opener Z Mahmood, with 41, offered much resistance for the Saints. John Gath 52no and J Bairstow 35no took the homesters to the points by seven wickets.

Third placed Riddlesden were thwarted at Embsay II in the only game that ended in a draw, after rain interrupted play for over half an hour. At one point the Keighley side were 140-1, then lost their last nine wickets for just 45. Simon Holt, 6-38, and Ben Airey, 4-59, did the damage. David Henson made 67 and N Kamal 54. The Shires Lane side were always on the back foot with veteran skipper Alan Robinson leading from the front. However it looked a lost cause when he was eighth out for 57 immediately after the stoppage. However Dave Graham and Pete Watson guided them to an unexpected point.

Barrowford II are fourth after a nerve wracking one-wicket win over Cowling II at Bull Holme. The visitors made 126 with Mark Batty contributing 42 as Peter Hakin and Nigel Jones took five wickets each. The Red Rose skipper, Nigel Hargreaves, was the catalyst for their win making 71no with M Atkinson, chipping in with 30.

Gargrave held all the trump cards when they entertained Thornton II. The Booth Bridge Laners were knocked over for 91 with D Watkiss taking 4-1, T Cowburn 3-24 and Ray Jones 3-48. In reply the homeside got home by six wickets with Steve Longley top scoring with 26 as Mark Laycock claimed 3-22.

Cowling Cup finalists Haworth Road continued their run at the top of Division Four as they entertained Long Lee and beat them by 10 wickets. Richard Butterfield 54no and Chris Griggs 25no did the business for the winners.

The other finalists, Pendle Forest were in blistering form at Glusburn. They amassed a gigantic 284-8 with R Buchanan and S Reed making 55, R Ellis 54 and S Ellis 51. The best bowling was by M Johnstone who took 4-60. In reply the South Craveners made a modest 139. The Fence side go into second spot ahead of Glusburn.

Skipton CI stay fourth after losing to 10-man Cullingworth. Tony Dimuantes with 68, D Blanchard 41 and I Holes 42 helped the home side to an impressive 223-9. CI battled to the end closing just 26 short of their target. Nigel Carr making 67 and M Boatwright 41.

Ingrow entertained Airedale and came off second best, losing by 79 runs. John Pollard with 65no helped the visitors to 160-6. The homesters never recovered from 13-5, with only Ian Herbert, 33, and A Packer 19 getting into double figures. J Perry and M Feather taking 3 wickets each.

Bingley Congs ran riot at Wilsden as they smashed 260. Leading the way was K Rowe who made a superb 120 ably assisted by W Mahmood with 91 as they put on 147 for the second wicket. The homesters replied with 160 of which J Greenwood made 69.

Bradley succumbed at home to Haworth by 115 runs. The Bronte side made 161 with Colin Williamson scoring 56. Damian Bailey took 6-22 as the homesters were hustled out for 46.

Keighley TC notched up their eleventh win of the season against Cononley. The Division Five leaders saw the home side score 154 with Kendall Gott making 30 as A Greenwood took 5-51 and Chris Brookes 5-57. Brookes then made 68 as the Keighley side roared home by six wickets.

Crossflatts are five points adrift in second spot despite beating next to bottom Sutton by seven wickets. R Andrews 48no and S Gage 7-44 were the stars for 'Flatts as Ben Bolland top scored with 48 for the losers.

Chatburn are third, a further four points behind after they slipped up badly at home to Gargrave. Richard Storr 6-23 and Stephen Moon 3-37 had the Ribblesdale side back in the hut for a disappointing 65. The latter then made 23no to help his side to a comfortable eight wicket win.

In the basement battle Riddlesden beat Foulridge by six wickets and finally Denholme beat Pendle Forest III by six wickets at Barrowford. G Mottram scored 43, P Greenwood 37 and J Wilkinson took 4-40 for the winners.
