Organiser's of Sunday's Pulse Party in the Park today promised the show would be one of the best yet - and urged pop fans to snap up the remaining tickets.

Pulse programme controller Simon Walkington said leading chart acts like Rachel Stevens, McFly and Darius would light up the stage at the music extravaganza in Bingley's Myrtle Park.

He said tickets would be available on the day in Bingley.

He said: "It's been a lot of hard work, from a lot of people, getting it all together in time for the weekend - but with the hours counting down I think we're very nearly there.

"In terms of the line-up it's been a difficult year this year - many of the first names you'd think of for an event like this have not been touring this summer, or are simply out of the country - so I'm really pleased with how impressive our line-up actually is."

He urged fans to buy tickets at a special box office which will be open at Bingley Arts Centre in Main Street on Sunday from 8.30am.

Gates open at 10am and the festivities get under way at 11.30am.

"Big names like McFly, Darius and Rachel Stevens performing here in Bingley really is something special and at just £8 a ticket you'll not get a better day out all year," he said.

"And I reckon there's a couple of artists on the bill who might not be so familiar at the moment, but are going to be massive stars in the next few months and I'm sure you'll be able to tell that for yourself when you see them on stage in Myrtle Park on Sunday afternoon."

Bradford Council officials were busy erecting the giant stage in the park yesterday for the start of the weekend of live music in Bingley which starts tomorrow with a free concert called Music at Myrtle.

The event will feature Roy Wood of The Move, ELO and Wizzard.

Thankfully for concert-goers, weather experts have forecast bright spells over the weekend with only scattered showers.
