The Bulls have bagged a "fantastic" player in Parramatta back-rower Glenn Morrison but current forward Brad Meyers is returning to Oz.

Boss Steve McNamara today hailed the capture of highly-rated Morrison on a two-year deal.

The delighted champions have seen off a rival bid from Hull FC to bring the powerful, wide-running Aussie loose forward to Odsal next season.

However, former Test ace Meyers has asked to be released from the final year of his contract and will head home at the end of this campaign due to "personal reasons."

Tough-tackling Morrison, 30, is rated one of the best uncapped players in the NRL and his departure is being mourned by fans in Parramatta where he has become a huge crowd favourite.

A destructive ball-carrier who scores plenty of tries, he also boasts a tremendous work ethic and can play anywhere in the back-row.

"It's a fantastic signing for us," admitted McNamara. "It comes on the back of the disappointment of losing Brad. He's been a fantastic servant to Bradford who has done a great job here.

"We're all sad to see him go but he has his personal reasons for wishing to return to Australia and we fully understand them.

"Now he's planning to finish the season really big; he's that sort of person."

The Bulls chief continued: "We feel we've found the best possible replacement.

"Glenn was sought after by a few other clubs and he comes with the highest recommendations.

"We've beaten people off to get his signature and I think he'll quickly become a favourite for the fans here and the players.

"It's a great acquisition for our side for next season and it tempers the disappointment of losing Brad."

Speaking from Sydney, Morrison said: "I'm very excited to be coming over to Bradford and playing in the English Super League.

"It's a great club, World Champions and you can't get much better than that!

"As far as I am concerned it just can't come around quick enough."

The former North Queensland, Sydney and Balmain star has netted 58 tries in 194 NRL appearances and was handed a massive rap by his former Parramatta boss Brian Smith.

Although it seems likely Great Britain's Paul Johnson, out of contract in November, will join Meyers in moving, either to Wigan or Warrington, the arrival of Morrison, teaming up with Chris McKenna, Jamie Langley and improving youngsters Brett Ferres and Matt Cook, means the Bulls' back-row remains a dynamic force.

Meyers, 26, joined from Brisbane Broncos last year, keen for a fresh start after early promise that yielded four Test caps hit a lull.

The Queenslander achieved that, igniting the Bulls and helping them to lift Super League and World Club Challenge titles.

He admitted: "I have some responsibilities back home that I have to start taking but I have really enjoyed my stay in Bradford.

"I'm so glad I came over and it's been part of my life I'll never forget. It has also given me back my love of football and I wish the club every success."
