Bradford bodies agree new standards on anti-social behaviour

New standards on tackling anti-social behaviour are to be agreed by Bradford Council, social landlord Incommunities and West Yorkshire Police.

They will set out the levels of service local residents can expect when they report rowdy neighbours, abusive or intimidating behaviour, verbal abuse, harassment, bullying, careless or inconsiderate driving, littering, dog fouling, vandalism or graffiti.

The organisations are promising to: 1) take swift and appropriate action against people committing anti-social behaviour and those breaching their anti-social behaviour orders 2) contact residents who report anti-social behaviour as soon as possible and keep victims regularly updated 3) support all victims and witnesses 4) involve residents in the process of addressing anti-social behaviour 5) work to improve residents’ quality of life and provide a better service 6) ensure anti-social behaviour reports are dealt with by the appropriate agency 7) work with communities to solve problems and deal with concerns.

Councillor Dale Smith, deputy leader of the Council, said: “Anti-social behaviour can have a huge impact on residents’ quality of life so it is an important priority for the Bradford District Safer Communities Partnership.

“Bradford Council and our partners have been working very hard to crack down on anti-social behaviour. However we are committed to doing everything we can to reduce it further.”

Chief Superintendent Alison Rose, chairman of Bradford District Safer Communities Partnership, said: “If you report anti-social behaviour, we will respond quickly, keep you informed of progress and involve you in solutions.”

Geraldine Howley, chief executive of Incommunities, said: “By working more closely together we can make a more positive difference and improve residents’ quality of life.”

Oh good, we can all sleep better tonight then. Let's hope they don't concentrate their efforts on Thackley, but go into the more troubled areas, as the incidents are reported. Why not get the parents of the ones causing the bad behaiviour to take out third party insurance. well it's good enough for animals isn't it.

'New standards on tackling anti-social behaviour are to be agreed by Bradford Council, social landlord Incommunities and West Yorkshire Police' ... this statement leads me to believe that the focus will be on social housing estates.

HELP!! Since slumlords (drugs trade) started snapping up lots of private houses in Bradford and using the DSS to pay for them through housing those on benefits in them life on private housing estates has become a nightmare - nasty people and dogs ... life's hell!!!

No they wouldn't. Using 6 coppers to fine the arrogant anti social idiots usually driving BMW's or Audi's is a smart piece of police work!

A street kid gets arrested, gonna do some time
He got out three years from now just to commit more crime
A businessman is caught with 24 kilos
He's out on bail, and out of jail and that's the way it goes

Its laughable, I know of someone who lives in a 6 month old Incomunities social housing property, she reported a neighbour 3 weeks ago for aquiring a second dog which just happens to be a staff bull terrier, having a second dog is in breach of the tenancy agreement, 4 weeks down the line nothing has been done about it, simply laughable!

I would not expect the Police to deal with such matters, but I would expect it to be dealt with within 3-5 days of being reported to the landlord.
The simple fact is that as long as social tenants pay/have their rent paid, then anything else with social landlords is not a priority.
Take a drive around any estate to see how many social tenants don't give a **** about where they live, how they live or what they do, which in turn grows anti-social types, and the half decent sorts that live amongst them have to put up with these scrotes week-in-week out!
Its about time social landlords started to make tenants responsible for where they live and what they do, for starters a house inspection every 6 months would not be a bad idea, and is also in there own interests, as far as I know not one social landlords does this, yet you might expect such by a private landlord!
Basically, the social tenant can do as they please within their four walls from one year to the next as long as the rent gets paid, and seeing as the tax payer is funds the majority of social housing rents, its a laughable situation to be in!
Whilst ever the system throw's everything at them and does not make them resonsible for where they live, the anti-social sorts will never learn and nothig will change, they'll simply get moved from one property/social provider to another simply because the system has to provide them with somewhere to live and the cycle starts over!

What puzzles me is how the Police are going to find the time to do all these extra jobs, when they can't cope with the workload they've already got. Maybe take a leaf out of the Spanish system where they have two police forces. One civil, the other military.
That would provide plenty to occupy the army lads when they bring them back from Iraq and Afganistan.
