A CAST of more than 70 will be taking to the stage to raise money for the NSPCC.

Young and old members of WYSPAS (Wycombe Society for the Performing Arts) have been busy rehearsing for its latest production Oliver! a performance that its producer hopes will bring a tear to your eye as well as leaving a song in your heart.

Andy Leonard from the non-professional society says: "We have a great cast this year and we are getting a new set brought in especially for the show."

He is delighted to have more than 30 children taking part in the show.

"Daniel Embleton, who plays Oliver is wonderful. Last night at a rehearsal, one of the mothers actually welled up when he sang his solo Where Is Love. It is going to be quite a show."

Throughout the show week, collections will be made at Wycombe Swan and all money raised will be donated to the NSPCC.

NSPCC community appeals manager, Jane Harries, says: "We are really grateful to WYSPAS for nominating us as its chosen charity for raising funds.

"The NSPCC depends on voluntary income to continue its vital work across the country, maintaining the level of service offered to local children and young people who have suffered abuse."

Oliver! is on at Wycombe Swan from May 12 to 15. Tickets: 01494 512000. For information on WYSPAS, visit www.wyspas.info.
