Yeadon-based charity Epilepsy Action has become one of the first groups in the UK to be certified as a quality provider of health and social care information.
The charity has been accredited by the Information Standard, a new certification scheme for health and social care information supported by the Department of Health.
Organisations that meet the criteria will be entitled to place a quality mark on their information materials, so people searching for health and social care information can easily identify it as coming from a reliable source.
Epilepsy Action is currently the only epilepsy charity to be accredited.
Sue Mitchell, communications manager at Epilepsy Action, said: “All people needing epilepsy information can be doubly confident that our materials are accurate, up-to-date and tested.”
Epilepsy Action helps more than 685,500 people every year through services including its advice and information centre, branch network and accredited volunteer scheme.
