Christmas Day was a double celebration for the family of mum Lisa Bulmer.
As the 24-year-old was giving birth to her third child, Isabella Rose, her aunt, Marlene Meadley, of Baildon, was celebrating her 44th birthday. And icing on the cake was the presence at Bradford Royal Infirmary of Lisa’s soldier partner, Royal Signaller Robert Clough, 29.
Robert was home in Clayton on “rest and recuperation” from Afghanistan. “The army are good in these welfare situations and knew Lisa was pregnant,” he said.
Also welcoming the new baby was Lisa’s mum and dad – Yvonne, 47, a home care worker, and Wayne, 48, who works at Morrisons – nine-year-old niece Emily Meadley, a pupil at Myrtle Park primary in Bingley, Lisa’s sister Laura and Marlene’s husband Stephen, togged up as Santa.
There was a second child for GP Marie Threlfall – an 8lb 12 oz little girl, sister to two-year-old George. Dr Threlfall, of Saltaire, who practices in Allerton, said: “She’s lovely. Everyone will want to know I’ve had her.” She and her husband Chris, who works in IT, had yet to name her.
The first baby at BRI on Christmas Day was a boy to 20-year-old Raheela Begum, of Pemberton Drive, Bradford, at 1.25am.
At Airedale Hospital at Steeton, near Keighley, 29-year-old Emma Witney, of Eldwick, Bingley, a teacher at Miriam Lord primary in Bradford, gave birth to her first baby, Harry, a son to 28-year-old Andrew.
Michelle Yale, 22, of Emerald Street, Keighley, also had her first baby – daughter Natalie with brewery worker dad Ryan Taylor.
Another first-time mum was 29-year-old nurse Manju Gopi. Alisha is a daughter to care worker dad Sreeji Raveendran, 29.
